Why soy?
Soy wax is a completely natural and renewable candle wax.

Why does soy wax make a superior candle?
It releases fragrance naturally and for longer. Soy wax candles last 25-50% longer than other candles, making them more economical. They are water soluble and the jars can be washed out with hot, soapy water.

There is smoke when I light my candle?
If after you light the wick, there is any smoke at all then extinguish the flame and trim the wick slightly. You never want any soot or smoke at any time.

How long do I let my candle burn for?
Let the candle burn long enough to get the entire top liquid wax. This can take up to an hour per inch in diameter of the vessel.

What is a melt pool?
A full melt pool should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep which will allow the fragrance to dispose more completely into the room.

Why is my candle popping?
This means your candle has been burning for too long. You should extinguish the candle, allow it to cool and then trim the wick to 1/4 inch. This is also the case if you see it smoking or popping.

Why do you have to cut the wick of a candle?
Keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times helps control the amount of “fuel” or wax that is present. By keeping the amount of fuel limited, the flame will create ideal complete combustion where carbon particles are absorbed by the flame. This means less soot is formed while the candle is burning.

Why is my candle burning black smoke?
The wick of a candle serves mainly to absorb liquid wax and release wax vapour, which then burns in the candle flame. The wick itself only burns very slowly unless it is too long. The solid wick is not well mixed with air and does not burn very efficiently, giving off sooty black smoke, which is unburnt carbon.

Do candles expire?
Candles, if they are scented or coloured may spoil easily if they are left unsealed or placed on sunny windowsill for long periods of time.

Why is my wick looking like a mushroom?
A correctly wicked candle will not mushroom badly. Not every candle can be mushroom free as some fragrances affect how the wick will burn.

Why does my soy candle have white coating AKA frosting?
Frosting is a perfectly natural effect of using soy wax. Its a natural wax recrystallising and trying to return to its natural state. All soy waxes frost, and its a sign that it is 100% soy wax. Frosting doesn’t affect the performance of your candle.

Why does my candle have a lumpy top?
This can be because of the climate that the candles are made in or the fragrance oils can also cause holes and lumps. Fragrances like vanilla’s, lavenders and rose are more notorious for curdling the top of a soy candle.
